Google set another leap in the vast world of technology

First, the Android OS, then Google Chrome, and now, the Google Chrome OS. This OS, intended for pocket PC and netbooks, boasts of light system usage.
This is yet, to be released in the second quarter of 2010. So, the choice between Google Android OS and Google Chrome OS is difficult to make.

Google. A household word known to all for its simplicity, speed and user-friendliness brings another interesting innovation to look forward to, the Google Chrome Operating System. This OS focuses on web-based applications. Also known as Chromium OS by some, it is an expansion of the Google Chrome browser. It is a lightweight operating system that will be open-sourced sometime in this year. Netbooks running the Google Chrome Operating System will be available in the second half of 2010. This will run on both x86 and ARM architectures.

Brands that are currently supporting Google Chrome OS are Acer, Adobe, ASUS, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and Toshiba. And the best of all, it is free!

As seen in the news, it seems that Samsung is giving out the first handshake with Google OS. The prototype, still unnamed by the said company, has a display of 10.1 inches, and consists of a LED backlight. With 2GB of RAM, a whopping 12 hours of battery life, and a 64GB hard disk capacity, this will leave another remarkable choice among the casual and spec-hungry people alike.

While Samsung is focusing on the Chrome Operating System, other manufacturers still aim for the Android OS. First used in smartphones, the Android Operating System now makes its way into larger devices such as netbooks. It is a modified version of the Linux kernel.

So as time passes by, will Chrome OS surpass its co-Google lineup, the Android OS? We shall see.

US Video Games Sales Down in January

The start of the year 2010 might not be so good for game publishers as the sales for January 2010 has declined. In fact, January 2010 sales were 12% lower as compared with January 2009. This decline in sales has become quite a trend in the industry especially after a rough year in 2009.

However, this decline in sales is not deemed uncommon by video games publisher as sales are always on its peak during holidays instead of a month without holidays. January on the other hand, is usually the time where gamers exchange the gift cards received during Christmas for a new game in the store.

The top game for the first month of the year 2010 is no other than Nintendo’s New Super Mario Bros. The second most sought after game is the Mass Effect 2 which was published by the gaming company Electronic Arts Inc. In addition to that, there were also good sales coming from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The Nintendo Wii tops the chart in the sales of game consoles by more than 465,000 units sold. Nintendo also secured the second spot with the sales of Nintendo DS with the sales of more than 422,000 units.

The Xbox 360 by Microsoft took the third place with 330,000 units while the Sony PlayStation 3 lagged behind with only 276,000 units sold.
