Google Nexus One: The Android Messiah?
Recently, the topic being talked about in tech blogs and news is about Google’s new Android based smartphone named Nexus One. This heated up further after the product made its debut at the Google headquarters on the 5th of January.
However, with all the hype created in the blogosphere, the product has yet to prove itself to the market. It is unwise to say that the product will beat every other product in the market but all said and done, the Google Nexus One is definitely a smartphone that packs a punch.
Armed with Qualcomm’s 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, Nexus One is considerably fast as compared with most phones on the market. Note that the Snapdragon is currently the fastest processor available for smartphones and only a handful is using it as their backbone. In addition to that, a total RAM of 512 MB is available onboard which allows applications as well as information to be stored in its memory.
Nexus One utilizes the OLED technology with a screen size of 3.7-inch. The screen is capable of rendering up to 480 by 800 pixels as compared with Motorola Droid which is 480 by 854 pixels. However, the difference between the two is that one uses the OLED technology while the other uses the older TFT LCD.
The product is nowhere heavy and weighs a mere 130 grams and 11.5mm thick. With this specification, it beats the much-hyped Droid as well as the Apple iPhone.
Sporting the latest Android 2.1 OS, there are new features available such as a voice-enabled typing system and many others. It is the first device to actually use this version with the Droid being the next.
Those interested in buying the Google Nexus One can do so through the Google website. However, this is limited to only several regions and those living outside this region might be a little bit disappointed.
