What is a Google Chrome?

Google Chrome is a web browser released by Google, similar to Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox. It was released in 2008 and it became quite popular. It is considered as one of the fastest browsers with variety of features. Now it stands fourth in the ranking of most used web browsers across the world.

Initially, it was released only for Microsoft Windows platform, but now it is available for other platforms such as Linux and Mac OS. Security and Speed are considered as the two important features of Google Chrome. There is a facility available in Google Chrome through which it periodically downloads and updates the blacklists for phishing and malware. Whenever a user attempts to open a harmful, it issues a warning stating that the website contains malware programs. This helps the user to prevent from malicious attacks. Also the site owners are notified about the harmful software in their site. Several tests were performed on different browsers by various websites and they unanimously confirmed that Google Chrome is much faster than all other rivals such as Firefox and Internet Explorer. Google Chrome uses JavaScript virtual machine with features such as dynamic code generation, hidden class transitions which enhances its speed. It also has a feature by which a user can identify which sites are occupying more memory and utilizing high CPU.

Another important feature of Google Chrome is that it provides different themes so that you can select the browser’s appearance of his choice. Even third party themes are also available for Google Chrome. Some of the buttons available on the main user interface are bookmark, refresh, home, forward, back, go, and cancel buttons. Also it allows the user to configure the homepage which can direct to the New Tab Page or a custom home page. The basic component of Chrome’s user interface is the tabs. In all the other tabbed browsers they exist below the controls whereas in chrome they have been moved to the top of the window rather than below the controls. These tabs can be toggled between different windows just by dragging. With all these features discussed, Chrome is considered as one of the fast growing web browsers in the world that can compete against Microsoft Windows, Opera and Mozilla Firefox.
